“The Covent Garden yoga classes  have been such a great boost to my confidence, as I haven’t been visually impaired for that long.  It was very hard for me to adjust and coming to yoga has helped me a lot,. I’ve made some great friends.  Clarke is a great teacher. She’s very warm and welcoming and makes us all feel relaxed.

Joining the Blind Aid yoga class has enabled me to become a volunteer, so these classes mean a lot to me.”

“Attending the yoga sessions at the Jubilee Centre in Covent Garden for the past year has been the highlight of my week.

Doing the yoga classes has improved my flexibility and my overall body strength.

One of the bonuses also is the social aspect of meeting other people and doing something that we all enjoy together which has been great for my mental health.

I am very grateful for the funding that we’ve been granted to keep the classes going.”

“Covent garden yoga has been really delightful, especially to meet like minded people who are wonderful and cheerful. This congregation has brought joy to my life and the yoga has brought serenity to my mind, which I previously didn’t have. It really has made me feel that the ‘show must go on’ because it is very good for stress and anxiety management. Thank you.”

“Here are several reasons why the Covent Garden Yoga is so crucial for me.

First of all, the Covent Garden Yoga is extremely inclusive and accessible, Sadly, the vast majority of the yoga classes are not welcoming people with disabilities. A lot of VI people were not accepted to the classes, while other ones did not want to do any reasonable adjustments

Secondly, the classes help both with mental and physical health. As yoga aims to strengthen both mind and body, it surely provides the best of both worlds which help to balance the life. Additionally, all the attendees are very lovely and you feel secure around them.

Finally, the sessions are held in the prime and most suitable location ever. The venue is very comfortable, there are quite a lot of space and, most importantly, it is very private, so there are no distractions from other gym members.”

“Gladly, and It comes from the heart .

To keep well and supple, Yoga is the best activity for anyone, and anyone can do it; standing, sitting, or lying down, no age limit, the benefits are innumerable and it’s never too late to begin.

I know, I did start late, but Since I’ve started with yoga my co-ordination, confidence and balance has improved, as well as my social life; we are all friends and help each other, and it is a pleasure to come to Claire’s class; We laugh so much, it’s wonderful and we love her.

After the class I feel on top of the world, and proud to have been able to keep up with the programme.

I’d be bereft without this yoga group, it’s vital to my weekly routine and happiness, and hope we may carry on and on and on…”

“I have learnt much about the yoga and living together.

The classes, the instructor and we participants became a good team then enjoy being together and share our aims and purposes. We created a good team and very enjoyable atmosphere. The most important thing is everyone enjoys the classes and no one is left. I definitely enjoy being there.”

“Yoga on Tuesdays at Covent Garden is the highlight of my week. I have met people who are in the same situation as myself and being able to share experience gives me confidence in getting out and about. I never thought I would have been able to navigate my way through such a busy place, thanks to Clarissa and Claire.

Yoga was taught with great enthusiasm and we all embraced the challenge even on very hot days. It would be a great pity if the classes ceased to be available.”

“I regularly attend the Tuesday yoga class in central London which is very convenient and a safe space for exercising. It is a time where I can relax and clear my mind as well as exercising and mobilising my body. As it’s difficult for us to have the freedom  to move around London spontaneously, it’s important to maintain a regular place to keep mobile. As regular gyms make it difficult for us VIs to attend being in a group of people with the same disability is great. Thank you for your support.”

“It is really important that it is easy to get to because of my visual impairment, and also how frequently the classes are. For me it has helped me with calming the mind and helping me destress. The teacher really knows what she is doing and how to describe the movement.”
